Consultant in nutrition research, product development and marketing, he was executive director of the Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research in Asthma, University of California.
Visiting Professor at Hokkaido University Graduate School of Global Food Resources, Sapporo, in Japan and at Thammasat University Faculty of Medicine, Bangkok, Thailand.
He is associate editor of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, and member of the publications committee of the Journal of the American College of Nutrition.
His research addresses the role of foods and nutritional and botanical supplements for enhancement of human health and performance. His current studies explore the role of fruits, nuts and unique botanical extracts on vascular function and inflammation. On these issues, he has published books and dozens of papers in the international literature.
